Important Contraband and Cell Phone Policy Changes
Discipline Procedures
Olympia High School will follow all Orange County Public Schools Policies and Procedures. A copy of the Code of Student Conduct will be sent home with your child during the first week of school. Please familiarize yourself with this document, review all rules with your child, and return the front page signed by both you and your child.
Contraband and Cell Phones
Students are not permitted to have in their possession the following items while on Olympia High School Campus.
-- playing cards
--CD Players
-- IPODs
-- headphones
-- pagers
-- other electronic devices
-- other items not conducive to the learning environment
If the above listed items are seen, they will be confiscated.
Cell phones may be in a student’s possession; HOWEVER, must remain completely turned off (not muted!) and OUT OF SIGHT during the school day. Out of sight means no cell phones on the belt or in a hand. Cell phones must be kept inside a student’s pockets, backpack or purse. If a cell phone is not concealed during the school day, it will be confiscated by Olympia High School FOR ONE WEEK BEFORE IT IS RETURNED TO YOU.
Our procedures for the return of any confiscated contraband or cell phones is as follows:
A parent/guardian must pick up the confiscated item from the Attendance Office. Students will not be given back the confiscated item.
• Confiscated items may be picked up in the Attendance Office:
- In the Morning…7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
- In the Afternoon… 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The confiscated items will be locked up until they are logged out and returned
to the family.
**Contraband will not be returned during the course of the school
day.
**Olympia High School or Orange County Public Schools is not liable for any
lost or stolen property belonging to students or their families.
**Disciplinary action may be taken for repeated offenses.
Our primary purpose is to provide an education. Please help us do this by
not allowing your child to bring any of these items to school. Also, please
remind your child that although they may bring their cell phone on campus,
at no time should the cell phone be visible, whether hanging on their belt
or in their hand.
